How We Rate

Every product on Builders Compared goes through a structured review process before it gets a score or appears in our rankings. Here's exactly how we evaluate.

Hands-on testing

We sign up for each platform and build a real working app on it. Not a demo, not a tour - an actual usable product. We measure how long it takes from signup to a deployable result and what limitations we hit along the way.

Five rating dimensions

Each platform gets scored across five core areas, then weighted into a final number out of 10:

• Speed to first app - how fast you go from idea to deployed product
• Capability ceiling - what's the most complex thing you can actually build
• Pricing at scale - real cost when you have actual users, not just on the free tier
• Code ownership and exit - can you leave with your work, or are you locked in
• Support and ecosystem - active community, plugins, templates, responsiveness

Position in our rankings

Final position considers the score, plus user feedback, conversion data from our readers, and the affiliate relationship (if any). We're transparent that monetary partnerships exist and can influence placement, but they never override genuine product quality.

Re-evaluations

Platforms evolve fast. We re-test featured products at least every six months and update scores when meaningful changes happen - new features, pricing changes, or shifts in capability.
